When you become a member of our church, women automatically become a member of WELCA. This membership is divided alphabetically into two groups. Each group serves throught the year. This service may include funerals, soup suppers during Lent, continental breakfasts during the summer and special events such as the annual Norwegian Supper.
The Highview Quilters meet on Thursdays mornings thoughout the year to tie quilts. They have 13 active members and two honoree members and would welcome more members! Click here for more information about the Quilters Group at Highview.
Men's Fellowship and Work Group
Each Thursday morning, a group of men (mostly retired) gather for coffee fellowship at 9 a.m. After coffee, they spend an hour or two making any repairs needed around the church. They also take on major projects such as landscaping, construction projects, setting up or tearing down rooms for events at church, etc. They are an invaluable part of the congregation. They are able to use their expertise to keep our building in tip top shape. Click here to see photos of this group in action.
The Highview choir practices Wednesday nights in the church choir room.
Guatemala Sister Congregation
Highview Christiania has an established partnership with ILA Santa Cruz de la Esperanza in Cimiento, Guatemala, a congregation of the Augustinian Lutheran Church in Guatemala (ILAG). Hillary Mealman, a member of Highview Christiania, spent a yearlong internship in Guatemala. Mealman returned to share her experience with the congregation, and shortly after, Highview Christiania hosted Padre Horacio Castillo, president of ILAG, and his family while they stayed in Minnesota in 2007. The congregation voted to establish a companion relationship, and two delegations have since traveled to Guatemala.
