Highview Youth Ministry

The Youth at Highview Christiania play an important role in the congregation. Youth activities comprise of Sunday School, Confirmation, Family Nights and more. Click here for this year's schedule.

Sunday School
Sunday School is held Sundays from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m.

Ages 3 through 5th grade meet in our opening room where they sing and learn Bible verses through music.  The children then break out into groups by age level utilizing SPARK curriculum to navigate the bible stories with age appropriate materials.

Age breakouts:
- Pre-School (Ages 3 - Pre-K)
- Kindergarten - 1st grade
- 2nd - 3rd grade
- 4th-5th grade

Confirmation
Traditional confirmation classes are offered to all 6th - 8th grade students every Wednesday evening from 7 - 8:15 pm. The confirmation curriculum is "Here We Stand", a  multi-year curriculum that helps effectively prepare students for Lutheran confirmation. Students experience a connection between the class content and their affirmation of baptism each week. Classes start with songs and music, large group presentation by the Pastor, and then students are divided into small groups for discussion, which is lead by parent volunteers. Students also better understand how their faith connects to real life, with these small group discussions.

In addition, on Sunday mornings at 9:30, students meet with two parent volunteers to further their growth in the faith.

Annual Christmas Pagent

At our Christmas pageant,  our 3 year olds through 5th graders tell the story of Jesus' birth through acting and music.

Family Nights

Family Nights are an inter-generational programs held once a  month. Each month has a different activity such as a hayride, cookie decorating, a retreat to Mt. Olivet Retreat Center, Soup Suppers during Lent, and Games in the Celebration Center. Each activity has a giving aspect such as cookies for shut-ins or canned goods for the local food shelves, etc.

Camp Wapo

A long time youth tradition at Highview is going to Lake Wapogasset Lutheran Bible Camp in Amery, WI.  Each summer, kids grades 2-3 can go to a weekend long camp, while grades 4 - 12 can attend a week along camp at one of their 4 sites.

Camp  WAPO has provided a place for our youth to be challenged and inspired to grow in their relationship with God.  Camp WAPO's daily activities include chapel, Bible study, cabin activity, free time, field games, all-camp activities, campfire and a special night time worship.

Highview will pay for a portion of camp tuition. Each camper will serve at a Continental Breakfast after a Sunday service during the summer as a part of a fundraising effort.  Full scholarships are available..
